A True Texas Fusion
Brisket and Guns (BnG) is the first-of-its-kind fusion of two highly sought Texas disciplines: smoking briskets and firearm proficiency. This two-part course will provide students with the knowledge and fundamentals to smoke a true Texas-style brisket and improve their proficiency with firearms. What an action-packed way to spend a day!
The “Brisket” portion is held in a classroom setting, where students receive formal instruction on all things brisket, from selecting a suitable brisket to preparing, smoking, and serving it. Please don’t let the latter sentence downplay the “Brisket” portion. There’s a ton of valuable information that will leave each student feeling confident about smoking a brisket for the next family function or finally opening the BBQ business they’ve been on the fence about. Our 1000-gallon smoker will be on-site so students can get real-time behind the pit.
The “Guns” portion is led by Stretch Kuykendall, a US Army Combat Veteran and NRA Instructor. Brisket and Guns is proud to partner with Renaissance Shooting Club for the weapons portion of this course. Students will receive a refresher on the basic fundamentals of firearms. We will establish a baseline for each student’s current proficiency level and build from there. Students will shoot from static positions, dynamic positions, from cover, while on the move, and learn how to advance on a target. The handgun portion has a distance from 5 to 40 yards to push students outside of their traditional training regimen.
This is a full-day course that starts at 0900 and concludes around 1700. This course includes a true Texas-style lunch catered by Toothsome Texas, a Brisket and Guns shirt, targets, and refreshments.
